It is a disturbing fact that a lot of people choose to buy puppies from pet stores instead of adopting rescue dogs from shelters. Many assume that these pups were left for adoption because of their ill temperament, deteriorating health, or simply because they aren’t the cutest breed out there.
A solution to this false notion is awareness — people need to know that adoption does not only save an animal’s life; it also helps lessen the increasing number of stray pets which significantly affects our ecosystem.
The most commonly neglected dogs are Pit Bulls. Since people have been selectively breeding them for dog fights, they have gained a reputation of being aggressive, vicious rascals when in fact they are the most loyal dogs when handled correctly.
Fortunately, some people do not believe in this stigma, and they continue to make a conscious effort to help others understand the significance of adopting these dogs.
The clip below features Zoltan, a senior Pittie who was seen tied to a fence by the police. The officers saved the pup and took him to New York Bully Crew where he was fostered for three months before Cynthia, Zoltan’s new owner, adopted him.
It was a mutual understanding for both Cynthia and Zoltan after they saw each other; it was love at first sight. The way Zolton looks at his mama is nothing but pure adoration, as he gets to enjoy his new toys, family and the second chance to live life.
It’s heartwarming to see the pup carry his little toy on his walks, which shows how grateful he is for this new life. Cynthia believes that an older dog is still trainable with enough time, extra patience, and lots of love.
We’re all hoping that he gets to live long years with his beautiful owners. Click the video below and see this for yourself!
