Jon Mancinetti is an animal advocate who’s especially fond of adopting and fostering pit bulls. He knows how the general public misunderstands this particular breed of dog and actively raises awareness about how pit bulls are great pets who are loyal and very gentle.
When Jon decided to adopt a pit bull named Smokey, the shelter also had another pit bull named Wiley who had been stuck for more than a hundred days in the shelter. When Jon went near the dog, the dog instantly went near him and rested on the side of the cage wanting to be touched and petted.
Jon immediately felt that he could never leave Wiley in the shelter. So, he decided to take Wiley home with him to foster.
Wiley immediately warmed up to Jon. However, he didn’t know how to be a puppy. Wiley didn’t even know how to play. Jon also had his adopted rescue pit bull, Smokey, to teach Wiley how to play.
After a while, Wiley eventually learned how to become a puppy again. It took a while, but Wiley started to become more active at playing with other dogs. He even began to trust other humans again besides Jon.
Wiley is such a beautiful dog full of love to give. However, nobody seemed to be keen on adopting Wiley. Jon even wondered about it himself, but he still stayed by Wiley’s side and assured the dog that he would find a good home.
After a little more than eight months, Jon a family based in California contacted Jon. They saw Wiley through social media and wants to meet and adopt Wiley. As excited as Jon was, he was also sad that it would be the last days that he will spend with Wiley.
The first meeting with the family went better than expected. Wiley immediately started giving kisses to his new mom and dad. He enjoyed playing with the other dogs, which will be his new siblings and he settled right in.
Thanks to Jon, Wiley found a forever home full of love and playmates.
Here’s a video on how Jon met Wiley and their journey to find Wiley a forever home.
