Many people are very much engaged in social media, and most people use it for a variety of purpose. What’s impressive is that social media does not only help humans but animals as well.
Christina Morgan, an animal welfare advocate from California, has used social media as an instrument in saving a dog named Jaripo. The 18-year-old dog was in a high-kill shelter when Christina helped and saved him. It all started when Christina saw a Facebook posted begging for help and looking for anyone to take him. If no one adopts the poor dog, he will be euthanized.
The said Facebook post garnered hundreds of reactions and was also reposted numerous times. However, despite the response in social media, nobody stood their ground and act on rescuing the dog. Luckily, the post reached Christina after she was tagged in the said Facebook post.
Knowing that it is a matter of life and death, Christina immediately decided to go to the animal shelter where Jaripo is. She is full of determination that she can take Jaripo home. She called the center to let them know she is on her way to pick up the dog, but she was told if she does not make it on time, they will push through with killing Jaripo.
Fortunately, she arrived just on time. On the same day, she brought the dog home. She also had him checked by a vet who later assured that he is doing fine. Because the dog is already old, there are some dental and bone-related issues that must be dealt with, but Jaripo is generally healthy.
Thankfully, there are still people like Christina who are using social media to spread positivity. She helped make other people aware of the importance of compassion not just for humans but for animals as well.
