Scientists have already agreed that dogs can truly save lives. This is on account of the health benefits they provide. For instance, cuddling with your canine companion is said to elevate your happy hormones, which, in turn, improves your overall immunity.
But some dogs actually save their owners from imminent risks through ways beyond the usual cuddles. These dogs go out of their way to ensure that their humans are safe through their cleverness — case in point: Major the Labrador.
Major is the canine companion of a certain Terry Mcglade. Terry suffers from chronic seizures. These seizures are triggered by his PTSD, which is due to his past deployment in Afghanistan.
One day Terry had one of his attacks. Fortunately for him, his dog Major was quick-witted and clever enough. Major managed to pull Terry’s phone out of his pocket.
He began pawing at the screen of Terry’s iPhone. The dog eventually reached 911. The 911 operator heard Terry moaning in the background which led to them responding to the scene quickly.
My hero! Major called 911 when Terrance Mcglade had a seizure last night! I was told he got to ride in the ambulance with Terrance.
According to 911, they received at least ten consecutive calls from Terry’s number. They kept canceling the call because they thought it was some prank call being made by some bored teenager. Thankfully, Major was one persistent dog.
If Major was not on his side during that fateful day, Terry knew he could have died. This is why he cannot express his gratitude enough for his canine companion’s clever response to his life-threatening episode. Even Terry’s mother, Debbie Mcglade, is quite thankful to Major and calls the dog her hero.
According to Terry, this is not the first time Major has saved his life. He recounts that he was in a rather dark place before Major came into his life. Major helped him to see life from a more positive lens.
Major is a rescue dog himself.
Thanks to Debbie and Terry McGlade
